Hib vaccination is primarily scheduled for infants under the National Immunisation Program, though certain at-risk adults — such as those without a spleen — may also be eligible. 

Common side effects include soreness, redness or swelling at the injection site.

Before Your Vaccination

Be prepared to discuss:

• Your child’s vaccinationhistory, if this is for a child
• Any risk factors such as nothaving a spleen, if this is for an adult
• Any previous reactions to thisvaccine

During Your Vaccination

For children, your pharmacist will check against the standardimmunisation schedule; for at-risk adults, your pharmacist will confirm yourspecific risk factors first.

You’ll then receive the injection, with a brief monitoring periodafterward.
